Horenstein mystery

Rebbe Rayatz's daughter Sheina (in the middle) with her groom Mendel Horenstein and his sister Sonya.
This photo was taken in the early 1960's.
This has no real meaning, as there is no way I could prove anything other than the fact that a photo of my husband in his early 20's placed beside the photo of Menachem Mendel Horenstein, reveals an extremely strong familial resemblance. So much so, that even my father who saw the photos last night agrees that they could have been brothers or whatever. I am fascinated by the postings on your blog site, especially since they are as recent as March, 2006. Is there anyone I may communicate with by e-mail? I am grateful for any assistance you may offer. May you and your family have a kosher Pesach!
Schenur Zalman of NY commenting to Rebbe of Satmar passed away today: Sonia was married to Mendel and had no seed. The rayaatz had only one grandson Reb Sholom Ber Gourary. The Horenstein's were raising a nephew of Mendel's as is indicated in the letters of the RAYATZ.
Horenstein and Orenstein was a common Jewish family name in Galicia and the Ukraine. Our Horensteins were Boyaner chassidim who were in the sugar trade and were reckoned among the richest Jews in Russia along with the Gourary's. They married into the Rizhin royal family and into the Schneersohn's twice. They had a shul in Jslm and a complete neighborhood called bate Horenstein. The late Reb Sander Bistrizky a chashuver Boyener chasid in NYC told me that there were no Horenstein's remaining in the Boyan community. Reb Israel Friedman the son of the previous Boyaner rebbe told me that the last "great" chassidic wedding in Russia in the 1970's involved a Horenstein marrying into a frum family in Muncatch. That family was then in Israel. I do have a photo of the mechutan of the Maharash the father of rabbi Moshe hacohen. Parts of the Maharash family is still alive in Israel.
